You can't know you were wrong until you get into future and the outcome wasn't what was expected.

It can be a conflict with reality, or a conflict with anothers beliefs.

Whos beliefs are right?

When someone else has a different response, you can immediately see it. They are crazy for their response. When it affects you, you have conflict. Conflict is conflicting belief. You can not have conflicting reality. Reality is same for both. It is conflicting reality maps. Someone is wrong, or both are wrong. Likely that both are partially right and partially wrong.

You get exposed to something new. Compare and contrast to memory. Choose. If it doesn't work, you choose differently next time. If it works, you have same response next time. You have learned what to do. You have learned response.

It becomes automatic response. The more you do it, the more ingrained it becomes. Habit.

Event triggers response, until it becomes automatic, you no longer have to think about it.

It becomes a belief and you use it as long as it works. Or past it's usefullness. You go down the wrong road too far and have to come back. You can over correct in the opposite direction.

Identity is territorial and protects it's beliefs. This is why we are angered when someone presents opposing beliefs.

Evaluate your own belief for bias when you are triggered.

Identity has a belief that it is following to it's goals. By saying their belief is wrong, you are interfering with them getting to their goal.

Everyone has beliefs. So everyone has to have beliefs.

If you can change someones beliefs, you change their actions.

Control of others beliefs controls their actions.

All control of other is control of beliefs. Enforcing who's are right.

Wanting to feel right can also be a way to control you. Just by appeal to your ego.

We are controlled through our ego. Fragile ego is easy to control.

Highest goal needs to be truth, not self.

Identity without fixed beliefs is more flexible and harder to control because you are more resilient, antifragile, the tree able to sway in the wind.

But can't change beliefs too easily, then you are manipulatable also. Must have a firm foundation for your reality. Only change with good reason.

People are inclined to believe things that are useful to them more than actual truth. You want to believe if you would gain from it in some way. Or if it reinforces your world view.

You cannot be attached to any beliefs, and all could be beliefs.

Just keep seeking truth.

Whenever you are against someone or some idea, it is because of a fear or desire, something that you care about.

Try to see what your belief is that you are attached to.

You are decreasing your empowerment or sovereignty if you are attached to a belief. You are limiting yourself.

As we gain truth, we are eliminating beliefs. But it expands our reality, so there are always more beliefs needed to fill in more gaps.

We want to belong. We gather in shared beliefs because similar attracts. We group according to belief. We build structures and hierchies on these beliefs. They become fixed order. They harm us. We need to interact with others with different beliefs to grow. Common beliefs hold people and societies together. When people stop believing the same, or believing in the structures created, the system fails.

We create identities in our reality map for others based on their beliefs.

You are aware of where you were wrong in the past. You are aware of where others may be wrong, because of where they differ from you, but you are not aware of where you could be wrong.

Others are the same. No one can name a belief that they have now that is wrong. Best you can do is identify something that you think could be wrong.

This is true even though everything that you believe is statistically at least partially wrong.

Speech is influencing others. Dialogue is giving each other more information to try to find truth. Or to influence them to your beliefs. The more in a conversation, the more likely that you could get closer to the truth.

Wisdom is an art. The art of living life well based on good beliefs. Based as close to truth and reality as you can.

You can have opposing beliefs. It requires 2 reality maps. If this is true, do this. If that is true, do that.

Bad ideologies say believe this, but not that. This is controlling your beliefs.

Flawed reality maps and being locked into the ideology.

Truth seeking is hard because the mind always trys to make itself look better to maintain itself. This is true individually and collectively.

Most of the life we live is beliefs, so most of our lives are based in falsehoods. Falsehoods created by the mind.

The purpose of all conversation is either truth seeking or control to enforce your beliefs.

You may think it is true, but don't understand all the why it is true. This is a belief. Don't commit to a belief and hold to it when proven wrong. You can believe, and operate on that, but don't get mad when proven wrong by reality.

A hypothesis is potential belief that you are trying to verify with testing.

Ideally, you should be able to change your opinions immediately upon receiving new information. This is updating beliefs and values.

Any time that someone is trying to manipulate or control you is because they are scared of the future that would become of your choice and not their choice.

You can find confirmation bias for any belief. So you can rationalize any belief.

Change always starts with a new belief.

You can't impose beliefs on reality.

It is easier to dismiss conflicting information than changing your reality map and beliefs.

We are wired to create beliefs to have reasons to do. Beliefs interfere with updating your reality map.

Similar beliefs defines borders between friendship and enemy.

Dialogue is explaining yourself. Explanations motivate others to your beliefs. Brings them to your side.

There is a no mans land between each and everyone of us. This is where disagreeing beliefs lie. We try to make it a conflict free space. No attempting control over one another. The same with groups with similar beliefs. Attempt to make all interactions conflict free.

You cannot impose beliefs on reality.

Reality determines beliefs. Usually over time.

Changing your beliefs is changing to accept the new reality.

You build your reality map based on what you have experienced. If you are stuck, it is because there is a belief that you are not letting go of. You have not integrated the different reality maps.

Beliefs vary. Truth is fought over.

You get truth first by sensing its, then you “see” it. This is an image of it in your mind. You “see” something that is different than what you previously believed. You adjust your reality map to the new relationships of cause and effect. There are different connections, so you make different connections in your reality map of your mind.

All self improvement is self conflict causing a change in you. When you finally “see” that you need to change, you will.

Then you have to test it to make sure.

It is not as important to have the correct beliefs, as it is to be able to update them. That is growth.

Beliefs are determined by what they were born into and what they experienced.

Emotional warfare. True self battling false self. Can be internal within one person, or between people. Or 2 false selfs battling. Two true selfs never battle.

Fears cause need to control your territory of your beliefs.

Rationality is using the reasoning ability of your brain to systematically improve the quality and quantity of your beliefs to improve reality map. And then applying the ability real world problems, to move more effectively toward your desires.

Rationality is trying to do better on purpose.

Rationality is a skill and tool.

We use rationality because it has proven to be most effective way to increasing probabilities of getting to our desires.

Brains are sticky things. They will hang onto comfortable beliefs that don't make sense anymore, view the world through familiar filters that should have been discarded long ago, see significances and patterns and illusions even if they're known by the rest of the brain to be irrelevant. Beliefs should be formed on the basis of sound evidence. It is old selfs that are trying to maintain themselves.

Once we establish beliefs, we they become part of reality map. They become part of our identity. We act automatically on them. We no longer consider them beliefs. We only remember that they are beliefs when we come in conflict with another with different belief.

False belief is map not corresponding to reality where you think it does.

It is a skill to be able to see your own beliefs for what they are.

Beliefs are expectations or anticipations that something will happen based on certain other things happening. They are effects that our mind predicts based on certain triggering causes. If it doesn't happen, the belief is wrong.

rationality doesn't require high IQ. It requires simple training of the machinery.

Emotions are not irrational, they are just one tool and can be wrong.

Rational is not emotionless, it is just using them to their limits and not counting on them above reality.

There are rational and irrational beliefs.

Rationalization is fake rationality. Self deception based on lies you tell yourself. Self sophistry.

Rationality gathers evidence and comes to conclusion. Rationalization comes up with evidence to prove the conclusion that you want.

Critical thinking is just using your senses and logical thinking to guide your beliefs and therefore choices.

Maturity is realizing that your beliefs are not truths.

Because we are rational beings, we try to see the sense and order of things. Where we don't see it, we try to use our rationality to create it to establish a better understanding of our reality. We establish our beliefs. Our beliefs are based on probabilities and affected by our values and filters.

We can be exploited based on our beliefs and fears.

We can be acknowledged as same by others with same beliefs. Group together for protections, and for agressions against others with differing beliefs.

Basing our rationality on beliefs can result in fallacy and failure if our beliefs are wrong.

We can assume a rationality based on our beliefs and assume that this gives an order to the universe that may or may not be true.

We can assume there is meaning, or no meaning, because of our beliefs.

You must remain flexible in your beliefs, because they may or may not be true.

If you base your entire life on beliefs that turn out to not be true, your whole world is flipped.

You can't force your beliefs on others.

everyone has their absolutes, the values that they absolutely believe in, what they base their lives around

and they all want others to believe the same way

you can't force them, you only show them the benefits of your beliefs and values

if you have things taken from you to bail out those with bad values, it sustains them, prolonging their change and improvement

those bad beliefs should be allowed to fail, to fade away, to die out

tolerate doesn't mean you can't criticize, you have to be able to criticize, you have to explain where your values differ from another and why you believe your values are the best

All ideas are models on how we think the world works. We fill in what we don't know with beliefs.

A theory is what fits what we know so far. It needs to adapt to new information.

A postulate is something proposed but not tested to become a theory yet.

Science is a group of models that we have that work and haven't been disproven yet.

No science is settled. Anything could eventually be disproven.

Beliefs create our world view.

Projection is just part of our belief system, our world view. We think others are like us.

Angered when they are not.

Your beliefs create a reality that your mind can understand.

Your mind locks onto this believing that it is reality and is resistant to change.

Because change means that you had it wrong.

So what you believe to be reality is based on your viewpoint, filters, focus, perceptions.

Reality exists outside of your mind. It is not what your mind thinks it is. Because you cannot percieve it all or know it all or understand it all.

Beliefs are filters.

“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn’t go away. “— Philip K. Dick

You can't understand yourself if you have internal conflicts.

You can't understand the world if you have conflicts. Conflicting beliefs lead to conflicting choices.

Beliefs are part of reality in that they exist. They cause you to act, so they affect reality. But, they only exist within you as part of your reality map. They are not actual reality.

Beliefs are what you believe to be true.

The self is a recording(with time and place tags) of what happened to you, plus a world image that it creates based on reality and beliefs, and the automatic process you have developed to operate in this world.

Add to “self”

We interact with our environment.

We develop beliefs on how things work.

Whenever we encounter something that we believe shouldn't be, we have to develop a way of interacting with it. We create new beliefs.

We adopt ways of acting to fit into our surroundings.

We develop a set of practices, approaches, characteristics, that give us what we believe to be success in our environment.

This becomes our automatic programming. This is our personality.

We have desires, so we want a better future.

We build our imagined future potential on our past experience.

Our past and our learned responses, our automatic programming, limit our future.

We try to fit reality to our existing beliefs, rather than adapt our beliefs to reality.

When we try to change our lives, the self tries to change perceptions of reality into what fits existing beliefs. When we cannot integrate reality to our beliefs, we have a breakdown.

Transformation is creation of new self. A new set of beliefs that fit to reality. The past disappears.

Memory is a story or idea that we tell ourselves happened. It is a creation in our reality map.

Reality is what exists. Within our mind is what we think is reality. This includes beliefs. Even beliefs about reality.

If our beliefs are supported by reason and evidence, we consider them to be true.

But they are still just a model for reality that we created within mind and by mind.

The human mind evolved based on what was useful to it, not what was true.

We establish beliefs based on what was useful, then get locked into it. We don't seek out truth until we have a failure big enough to cause change. Then we seek the next useful belief. Usually we are paniced into a short term solution that is maladaptive.

We have to learn what that what is best for us long term is truth and reality.

Your beliefs can be updated and controlled, but not very easily. It becomes easier the more self aware you are.

Most people have same desires, fears, emotions, physiology. We differ in beliefs. This is where we have conflicts.

Every map of reality maps what is there. And what is not there.

For every map there is a part that is not mapped. That is the chaos.

We expand our map with beliefs to reduce chaos in our mind.

Shadow is the unknown unknowns. The holes that we don't know that they exist.

Try not to have beliefs. If you have a belief, it is harder to believe the opposite. Or an alternative.

Not believing in anything is not nihilism. It is the basis for change and improvement.

The basis from which creation is made from the chaos.

What you can or can't do is rarely based in reality. It is based in your beliefs.

To reduce your beliefs, you have to be skeptical of everything. It can be either way until proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Don't believe anything you read or hear from others should be your default mode.

Skepticism is not believing in the opposite, it is not believing anything.

Every map of reality is flawed. Everyone has bias based in their beliefs and desires. No one is neutral.

Your having beliefs that are true is a resource because you have better connection to reality.

Beliefs are opinions, fill gaps between known and unknown.

If you aren't afraid of someone, you don't care what they believe.

Our brains are set up to minimize inconsistencies. So we create beliefs.

Opinion means you are pinned to something. You hold that belief and it holds you.

Our brains are energy saving machines. It is easier to make assumptions than to search out truth. Easer to create a belief than look for truth.

Each person is an island of knowing. Knowing is reality that you experience first hand.

Surrounded by beliefs. Beliefs are knowledge given to us by others or that we create based on our experience. We think that it is truth.

Knowledge is gathering knowing of others that can be tested and verified.

Island of knowledge within chaos. The larger the body of knowledge grows, the larger the boundary of the unknown, so the more we realize we don't know.

The biggest trap preventing potential is beliefs and ideology. Your mind traps you in this fake reality.

Your biggest enemy, your biggest limit is your own mind.

It is ignorance of true reality and refusal to believe it when you see it.

You can get long with others who have different beliefs than you. We all do it all the time. Plus it is good for us to hear their opinions.

Wisdom allows for changing beliefs.

Opinions are where we believe it to be true, but others have contradicting opinions that they believe to be true. Opinions are based in beliefs, not truths. This is subjectivity, it is subjective to your beliefs. Objective is what all believe to be true, but may not be. What are the probabilities that it is true? Theory is something we believe. Some theories with high probabilities are assumed to be true. A logically consistent theory that explains all we know, we go with it until disproven.

Changing your attitude is same as changing your beliefs, gods, ideology.

Because you have beliefs, you have expectations. When expectations are not met, you are confronted with reality that doesn't conform to your mind, so you are disappointed. You can assume that the reality is wrong, or you were wrong, or somone else caused this disappointing reality. It is easiest to choose to be the victim.

When expectations are not met, you can become angry or anxious.

Do not attack the reality for not being what you expect, or look for an oppressor.

You must accept the reality as exists in the now, but you can make an effort in the now to change the future. It requires your action. Take the reality and move on. Be adaptable.

You have expectations that don't turn out, it was your beliefs that were wrong. You made wrong assumptions, or were off in predicting the future probabilities.

Life is one struggle after another until your mind says that you can't take it any more, but you can endure it. It is the attitude of the mind that is the problem. The mind can't deal with reality.

Accept what is rather than require that reality conform to your beliefs and expectations.

Expectations are assumptions, never assume.

Be thankful for your reality whatever it is, you are alive and have potentials.

Acceptance means acknowledging that you can't change it. You can't be thankful unless you accept reality and see the potential that you still have.

Acceptance is bring your mind in alignment with reality and ridding it of the expectations.

Everyone wants truth until it doesn't agree with their beliefs.

Having an open mind is not having fixed beliefs. You can go the way the proof leads.

If you believe that your thoughts are your own, they will control you because you think that it is just you. It is only part of you. Try to see the opposing view, because it may be an inner parent that is misleading you. Imagine the devil or angel on the other shoulder.

Bias is something filtering your belief of reality and you don't know it.

Just because you are offended or triggered, doesn't mean that you are right. It just means that your beliefs are being challenged.

The fundamental beliefs are important, they determine the rest of your beliefs. You build your life around them.

We do not establish beliefs to find truth. We establish beliefs to fill in the gaps of truth.

Nobody is all seeing and all knowing, so everyone believes in somethings to fill in the gaps of the not knowing reality. So everyone has beliefs.

We mistakingly believe all the thoughts in our own head. They are not always based in reason, or are even the likely reality.

everyone makes assumptions about the world around them without actually knowing the complete truth, everyone believes something, these beliefs are part of you, you count on these beliefs to get you through the unknown,

Children believe everything parents say, so they are easily manipulated or damaged psychologically.

Because the parents are distorting reality perceived by the children.

Children modify their behavior to avoid conflicts with parents out of fear, even when parents behavior is wrong.

These modifications become patterns that become their psychology.

If you don't struggle with beliefs, then they, and you, are not very deep.

everyone has their absolutes, the values that they absolutely believe in, what they base their lives around

and they all want others to believe the same way

you can't force them, you only show them the benefits of your beliefs and values

if you have things taken from you to bail out those with bad values, it sustains them, prolonging their change and improvement

those bad beliefs should be allowed to fail, to fade away, to die out

You should have fewer beliefs, and therefore fewer opinion.

Bad beliefs is bad programming.

Your mind uses your beliefs to possess you.

Any belief has its believers and non-believers.

They will only listen to believers.

They get support from other believers.

They get most unthinking support from the dumb ones.

They get sophistry from the smarter ones.

They try to convince non-believers and the open minded.

Your brain assigns meaning to things even when none exists. This is why we create beliefs. This is why we develop faulty programming. We have a false belief. We assign a false meaning based on that belief.

Your beliefs create a reality that your mind can understand.

Your mind locks onto this believing that it is reality and is resistant to change.

Because change means that you had it wrong.

So what you believe to be reality is based on your viewpoint, filters, focus, perceptions.

The triggered view their opinions as fact. And a large part of their identity. So in their view, it is a personal attack based on your untrue beliefs.

When they can't disprove your beliefs, they attack your character and other irrational fallacies.

Any experience can change you by changing your beliefs.

If you don't know the reality of a situation, you should be more comfortable not knowing than to make up a reality. There is higher value in not knowing than believing a false reality.

If someone says or does something that upsets you, first evaluate whether it is true.

If true, then accept it or change. If not true, don't let it upset you because they don't know the reality.

by prizing tollerance and different beliefs, we allow bad thoughts and beliefs to continue

there is an arrogance and blind certainty that keeps people from changing

addd to “self”

Bad memories are thoughts arising in the mind, the ego or self. You must realize that is part of your identity of your mind. It is not happening now in the present, so it shouldn't be controlling you now.

Memories are only thoughts. Only if you believe they are real do they have control over you.

You must separate your current self from that past self. Or better yet, from all selfs.

Don't let the past control you. Or your past self. Or guilt.

You are a new person every moment. What do you want that new person to do at this moment.

You can only act at the level of consciousness which you posses in the moment. So don't beat yourself up over how you acted. Just act differently the next time, or now.

We are the victims of our beliefs. Changing beliefs is the answer.

Talk to people and don't force your beliefs. Ask them questions about theirs.

You don't attack them with your beliefs. This will make them defensive and see you as an enemy.

They will not want to see themselves as a bad person with bad beliefs.

You are not telling them that they are bad. After they see the contradictions, you get them to see that they were raised to believe this way. Bad programming, so that they could be used.

We exist inside an idea called a story that our brain tells itself. Our relationships also live there. We create what we believe to be reality.

Beliefs are viruses. They do nothing themselves. They get into others and multiply. Can take the host down. Need immunity. We are all walking infections, we should infect others with good ideas and beliefs.

All higher order thoughts are beliefs based on what we think we know. Based on our world view.

We cannot distinguish between truth and belief until belief is proven wrong. Because the belief is transparent. It cannot be made opaque without introspection verifying the contradiction and then deciding which is more salient.

You can consciously direct your consciousness toward introspection. This is how you can create an updated self with new world view.

We do not interact with the world to find where we are wrong. We interact by grouping similarities and look for where we are right. This hampers learning. We look for and focus on things that fit with our beliefs.

Learn to have gratitude when proven wrong. Or even when you find differences from others, because that allows for exploration of whether you are actually right in your beliefs.

We stress because we don't want to have different beliefs. Be comfortable with the differences. The goal of dialogue is not to agree, it is to find the differences and explore them for the benefit of both.

It is painful to find out you are wrong, but you have learned from it. You grew.

Good to admit when wrong as a parent, so kids learn it is OK to be wrong.

Wisdom is for self transcendence. It helps overcome self deception (reduce beliefs) so that you can grow.

Any belief you took in a package (ex. Democrat, Catholic,

American) is suspect and should be re-evaluated from base

principles.

Everyone depends on beliefs.

Everyone starts out innocent. Everyone becomes corrupted because of beliefs and desires. Wisdom is the discarding of vices and the return to virtue, by way of knowledge. Knowledge is reduction of chaos by increasing known reality.

reality vs beliefs

you perceive very little, all senses are limited, you can't see infra red, you can't hear what people are saying in next room, let alone around the world

all processing goes through filters of comparison to beliefs about reality we experienced in past

we create ideas about what we think reality is, fill in the gaps with beliefs to create what we think is a a complete map of reality, this is inacurate so it filters all future beliefs

The biggest trap preventing potential is beliefs and ideology. Your mind traps you in this fake reality.

Your biggest enemy, your biggest limit is your own mind.

It is ignorance of true reality and refusal to believe it when you see it.

The deeper the trauma, the earlier it occurred, the more it is ingrained into your unconscious automatic programming.

You can get long with others who have different beliefs than you. We all do it all the time. Plus it is good for us to hear their opinions. If someone acts on their beliefs, then you have to judge how immoral they are and if you can still get along with them, or if you have to get away and protect yourself.

You can get long with others who have different beliefs than you. We all do it all the time. Plus it is good for us to hear their opinions. If someone acts on their beliefs, then you have to judge how immoral they are and if you can still get along with them, or if you have to get away and protect yourself.

Humans developed language beyond animal to create justification of their actions. The why. This led to reasoning. We developed reasoning more to explain and justify.

This created the self. The person within you that has to justify everything. Explains your choice to others and to yourself. Explain your motivations. The justifications attempt to stabilize the self into a coherent reasoning being. When internal conflict, it is selfs battling for control of path to take.

You create a story of who you are to yourself by justifying yourself. Internal dialogue is all reasoning to justify our actions.

We also have a social identity or collective self that we create to justify our actions. We developed religion as a means to grow collective identity beyond dunbar limit. This grew our collective intelligence. It protected and saved and propagated the good in a culture. But it was still a quest for more why. We got to the why of why. The base reason. Well being physically and mentally. Integrity or everything integrated. In cultural terms morality. Morality is integrated virtue. So the ultimate why or goal is virtue of individual and virtue of culture. The best of all things integrated in the individual and society.

The first thing any child asks is why.

Society is a collection of selfs. A collection of bullshitters trying to each justify themselves.

How do we separate the bullshit from truth was the start of philosophy. Separation of belief and truth. Logical thinking to narrow down truth and eliminate belief and then to ad to truth. Evolved into science as an explanation or justification of the why.

Your family of selfs make up your consciousness.

You sense and perceive. This is the experiential self that has filters of perception and focus this is your sense of being in the world. This is the subconscious. Attention system is in control of this.

Attention system is constantly seeking what is most important to focus on. How to direct the brains time and effort.

Then above that, and in control, is the private self. This is your private narrator of your life story. It is who you consider yourself. Your selfconsciousness. Your interpretor who justifies your life and all it's actions. It creates other selfs to make choices. It battles one self against another to see which path to take for survival. Each self has it's viewpoint and bias. Bias is what it would prefer. It makes projections into the future and calculates probabilities. It makes judgements based on these probabilities. It knows that you are also subject to judgement by others, so it creates the public self. Another filter that only lets some of the private self to be seen by others.

It takes effort to maintain this filter because it is a creation, not reality. Hard to maintain long term. The more different from reality, the more effort required to maintain it.

You have a public self. This is the one that you allow others to see. You can't show everything. You keep the shadow back so you don't scare others away. You show what you need to in order to manipulate others to do as you wish.

All these selfs have competing systems of justification. And then all the public selfs have competing systems of justification. In total, they make up culture and morals.

The danger of the self within the individual is that one self becomes so strong, it won't allow change. It becomes authoritarian of the other selfs. Same as the danger in society where someone becomes too strong and authoritarian over the rest.

You need to have multiple selfs competing in an individual and many individuals competing in society. Same as free market in economics. All need competition. We need internal dialogue to grow as an individual. We need external dialogue between sovereigns to grow as a society.

We need set of rules in socieety to protect the individual. We need set of rules and behaviors within the individual to protect the selfs so we are open to change. We need a set of rules in the economy to protect the free market. We have to set up the games within us and externally that allow the best to move forward. Competition was always the game. Now we need game B, so that we don't allow the competition to destroy the system.

The mind lies whenever it can get away with it.

Authenticity. True self. You living in reality. The part that can and wants to grow. The potential that wants to become.

Reality includes your ego and potential. Ego is the current self that is in control most of the time in the now.

True self does not exist, except as an abstraction. Because the potential self does not exist yet.

Ego has self protective mechanisms. Armor or walls that we create. You must shed the armor or break down the walls to grow. To allow your true self to emerge.

Ego is the false self. The more you identify as something in the now, the less potential you will have, the more stuck you are.

Ego is not creative by definition. It is the self that now exists. To create, you must change. The artist changes as he creates. Same as not stepping into same river twice. You change it and it changes you. This is why artists evolve and their work changes.

Loosing your self is loosing ego, is being selfless, opposite of selfish, surrendering to something greater than self, your unlimited potential, your being godlike, being as one with humanity, with the universe, loss of all fear and anxiety.

Your self is your greatest ally and greatest opponent in the battle of life. The thing propelling us toward personal growth and the thing holding us back. The thing propelling us toward achievement and the thing holding us back. The good and evil within us.

Refusing to admit your darker side you allow it to flourish only in the subconscious. From there it controls you.

Whenever the shadow acts, we refuse to see it. We attribute its actions to others in projection.

Projection can be positive or negative characteristics. But negative is much more common. We can assume others are good, because we are. We always assume that others are bad, because we are.

It is a defensive mechanism. It defends the self against attack for the bad behavior.

Everything unconscious in ourselves we rarely see, but we easily see it in others. Even when not present in the other.

It is a useful tool to know how it works. What we see easily in others, we need to look for inourselves. When we can see it in ourselves, we can begin to integrate it into our consciousness. Become aware of our tendencies.

It takes courage to admit we have a shadow and to integrate it. This is the struggle of self awareness.

Without integration into consciousness, the shadow becomes stronger. It battles more against the conscious self trying to be good. It is easier to rationalize because we feel we are good most of the time.

When bad does happen in the world of the unintegrated, it is attributed to other outside causes. Victimhood.

When you refuse to see the bad in yourself, you are surrounded by drama that you can't figure out the cause. This entire portion of reality of cause and effect is unseen by you. This is your blindspot. Everyone has blindspots and they filter your reality.

When you don't accept the blame for something, you make a scapegoat of someone around you. This drives them away eventually. They leave, but your problem remains and you repeat the process with another. You cycle through bad relationships.

When you run out of scapegoats, you can create an entire class of scapegoats. This is even easier because there are so many out to get you, you don't have to individually confront anyone. They are all to blame. This is racism, sexism, nationalism, etc. My religion, race, sex, etc. is better than yours.

when you see an entire group against you, it is easy to become part of an ideology opposing them. It is easier to become part of a collectivist group, because you need the strength of numbers against their numbers against you. The safety and protection of your group against theirs.

We are projecting our problem on others.

This is why the blacks cry racism so easily. There was racism in the past, that contributed to current problems. Current problems are blamed on current racism, even though it is much less common. There are many black racists. They project their problems onto whites and are very vocal about it. Racebaiters that benefit from the turmoil.

Using a group of scapegoats like this allows us to preserve our personal relationships. The person next to us isn't the problem because they are oppressed just like us. If they start to see the problem, and say something to us, they must be outcast from the group. Only if they buy into the mass psychosis and support our beliefs are they allowed to remain part of the group. Uncle toms.

A group of oppressors also is made easier, because all of these individuals have flaws also. It is easy to find someone and point out their flaws and use that to justify and rationalize the entire delusion.

Even the worst projection has a thread of truth to base it on because of in group preferences that are natural instinct for all.

We have to be aware of the natural in group preferences are part of our shadow and integrate it.

When we see an entire group against us, that justifies our persecution of them. It justifies segregation, war, genocide.

The collectivism is used by rulers to motivate going against others. Used to create fear in us. Used to divide and conquer us. Used to create more, stronger government for our protection. Used to distract us from our own leaderships bad behavior against us. But the real goal is just more resources under control of the leadership. This is the same as when our political leadership uses it as when the racebaiters use it for gathering and maintaining their resources.

This projection at the level of the collective is very dangerous on all levels. From waring tribes, cultures, ethnicities, races, religions, governments.

It all goes back to treating all as individuals. Not collective. This limits the power of projection. And the damage that can be done. Same as limiting power of any ideology against the individual. Limit the power of the SJW, the indoctrinations of the religion, state, culture, race.

These indoctrinations harm the individual and all of their relationships and potential interactions with in group and out of group persons.

The indoctrinations are self propagating. They will only grow as stresses on the varying cultures increase. We go to war when we are hungry. Others have what we need, and we deserve it more.

Only when we integrate the shadow, can we see the true evil in the world. If we keep projecting our shadow, it distracts us from real progress toward the good.

We get too caught up in our own individual suffering created by the projection in a day to day to be able to focus on the real problems. This distraction is also used by the rulers.

Our biggest danger is not others, but not in understanding ourselves and integrating into reality.

It is this weakness, that allows internal conflict to be manifest into our external world. We don't see what evil really lies within us until we create so much mayhem as world wide war and mass exterminations.

Because we are our own worst predator, humans are good at deception. We deceive ourselves and others. Deceptions separate us from reality.

Self deceptions are self protective. We are trying to protect ourelf from reality.

Self deceptions are harmful. They do not allow us to strengthen our weaknesses because we don't see them.

Distractions are a form of self deception.

Self deceptions are our blindspots. They are tools of the shadow.

We usually only see the self deceptions when forced to by the force of the reality. It is usually too late to save ourselves.

Don't live at the mercy of your self deceptions. Live consciously with intent.

Self deceptions are commonly associated with our vanities. We see ourselves better than we are.

Self deceptions are time and other resource wasters.

Self deceptions are assisted by seeking external validation for them.

They prevent us from reaching our true potential.

Self deceptions create a false self to avoid the pain that our true self would suffer.

Going into chaos is going into the dragon den. You must win the fight to get the dragons gold. It is mostly a battle of the self with the higher self. The biggest threat we have is the enemy within.

Sanity is the mind creating a self that is integrated with reality.

This self builds you a prison in reality. The stronger the self, the higher and stronger the prison walls. You trap yourself into staying the same.

The more curious, freer, more willing to venture into chaos is borderline insanity.

Too far into chaos that you cannot make rational sense of things and you are insane. You can't integrate it, because you can't make sense of it. You may think that you are making sense of it, but be wrong. Like childhood trauma, where you thought you made sense of it. It moulded you and you adapted to fit the reality that you thought was. But you are living in unreality, fantasy.

You are not your body or mind. You are holy trinity.

Everyone wants truth until it doesn't agree with their beliefs.

That voice from mind is not always on your side. He is on his side. You may not have common interests.

Everyone has something crazy that they believe.

Our mind is tied to our body. We can heal our body with our mind or hurt it. We can also heal our mind with our body(exercise, positive body image) or hurt it(pain, self esteem).

Baggage of youth harms body development.

We read body language.

Body is a reflection of character flaws.

How we move and look affects our mind. Hold your shoulders up and back.

Disorganization in the mind or body, reflects in the other.

Hyperactivity results from a mind that is not calm.

Moving with grace is sign of clear mind.

Coordination is mind integrated with body.

Fueling the body properly feeds the mind properly.

Without adequate fueling the body and proper exercising, the mind can't reach it's potential. Without mind reaching potential, the body can't. Ones limitations affect the other.

Heroes. You carry them around with you all the time. Don't be afraid to use them. Act like them. And become like them. Voices of your fathers.

Inside body of 14 yo is 4 yo and 34 yo. Which one has control?

If you believe that your thoughts are your own, they will control you because you think that it is just you. It is only part of you. Try to see the opposing view, because it may be an inner parent that is misleading you. Imagine the devil or angel on the other shoulder.

It is very difficult to overcome an internal father or mother if you accept their behavior and say they had no responsibility or you worship them.

If you excuse your parents for the way they treated you, then you say they had no free will, then no one has free will and you have to accept any behavior from anyone.

You will have to excuse all kinds of murderers and child abusers.

Fathers also have to protect the child from the mother. Mentally from toxic motherhood and physical abuse. Mothers have to protect child from fathers toxic fatherhood and physical.

Boys that are physically or verbally abused by mothers eventually lash out. They get big enough to defend themselves. Girls don't have same advantage against fathers. Or they can leave by any means available to them.

Mental health of community is loosing ground rapidly. Problems are accelerating. Less sane, stable people to maintain.

It is your subconscious, your ego, that controls you. Because you don't know that it is there doing so with all the automatic behaviors. Once you realize that it is there controlling you, you can fight back with conscious thought.

Default mode for most peoples brains is active mind. Meditation turns this off and can set a new default to be present. In the zone, or in the now.

This shrinks the active mind portion of the brain associated with stress and grows the cerebral cortex.

Everyone wants truth until it doesn't agree with their beliefs.

That voice from mind is not always on your side. He is on his side. You may not have common interests.

Everyone has something crazy that they believe.

Bias is something filtering your belief of reality and you don't know it.

You are more than a biologic entity. You are not just your body. You have a body. You reside in your body. Your brain is only a part of your body. This is the objective part of you.

You are molded by your memories and experiences. They are part of you. They filter your perceptions and focus, and therefore the reality of you. At least this portion of you is subjective. There is a subjective portion of your consciousness, that which is you, in addition to the objective portion.

There is no objective part of you that you can point to or disect out that is you, or your consciousness.

The self is an illusion that is part of us. An idea created by the mind. Created by mostly the subjective part of our mind. There is not a separate consciousness, free of self, it is part of us.

We create in our mind who we think we are. This is subjective and subject to change. We change it. We control who we are by our free will.

There is anatomic structure. Molecular interactions. Chemical interactions. Electrical connections and actions. All of these are objective. They are observable and measurable.

There is a portion of you that is not observable or measurable. This is your consciousness. The consciousness is a changing, dynamic system. Who you think of as self is an idea that the consciousness creates. There is not one self that continues through life, or even from one moment to the next. You can observe the self and modify and change it just by observing it. Each change causes other changes in the complex system that is you. Your free will allows you to see that self and make choices to change it. Each experience that you have changes self.

Some feel that you can completely separate from what you are experiencing and from self. Freeze a moment in time and become one with the experience and one with self. That may be possible for a budhist master, but not for the masses. At best, most could live in the moment with meditation training and a sensory deprivation chamber or float tank. Maybe with psychodelics. This is self transcendence or ego transcendence or spiritual connectedness or being godlike or buddha or jesus or one with the world. If you can achieve this separation from self, you are eliminating the subjective, you are experiencing the objective reality of consciousness.

You are a group of identities. Each wanting control. You loose control to other you's. Then your focus shifts , because that you has a different value.

You form habits and then they form you.

Most people have uphill hopes and downhill habits.

The ego is the problem. We over complicate it and reinforce it. This just strengthens the shadow.

They are all just thoughts.

Thinking about your problems is just the ego trying to see itself. You can't, there is no mirror that will show you your true self. The only way is to try to create a higher ego to get rid of the shadows.

The ego always compares. Looks for similarities and differences. Makes groupings. Makes rankings.

All egos have a belonging need also. It looks to be a member of a group.

Ego creates stories, ideas of how the world works and how you fit into it.

You are a group of identities. Each wanting control. You loose control to other you's. Then your focus shifts , because that you has a different value.

You don't live directly in reality. You live in a bubble that is your perceptions and ideas of reality.

WWJD is that second self.

Morality is not complicated. A simple set of rules that helps us get along. How to cooperate. We need this because we are social animals. Best rules are win win. At minimum must be do no harm.

Morality is cooperation.

When moral rules conflict, choose the greater good. In

Love and care for your family.

Help your tribe.

Return favors.

Fairness.

Be kind.

Be brave.

Conflict resolution.

Property rights.

UAB, NAP

Rules to handle agressors.

The 2 wolves within you are love and fear.

Mind has evolved to be violent, paranoid and angry. Always fearful.

Paranoid pessimistic stays alive.

It's not peace of mind, it's peace from mind.

Peace from mind is happiness.

The fundamental beliefs are important, they determine the rest of your beliefs. You build your life around them.

Believing that people are basically good is wrong.

If you believe that, you need to do nothing to make the world a6 good place. You need to take no steps to make good people. So you dont.

If you believe people are capable of good or evil, you do what you can to make them good.

Ask a leftist if people are good, then why racism, sexism, pedophilia, homophobia, power structures of all kinds. Slavery, authoritarianism, war. Stealing, murder.

You must believe in good and evil. You must believe in something higher value than yourself. You must believe in NAP. Then teach your children these things.

Believing that men and women are the same is wrong and leads to wrong or bad. Believing that all individuals are the same is wrong. Believing that all people that share one characteristic share all is wrong, eg racism, or your religion or ideology is the only right one.

Stress is one thing wanting having forces in 2 different directions at same time.

In a person it is two mutually exclusive ideas. Incompatible values. You must decide what you want more and then accept the loss of the other.

Acceptance of the loss and your choice eliminates stress.

Eliminating stress is creating peace. Peaceful mind is happiness.

Quiet mind is happiness.

Goal is peace, happiness is the result.

Peace is lack of stress. Going with the flow or making a choice and acceptance of the consequences.

Wishing and hoping create stress because they go against current reality.

Understanding truth is peace. God is peace, love, understanding, acceptance.

You are not your beliefs or thoughts, you are your actions.

We do not establish beliefs to find truth. We establish beliefs to fill in the gaps of truth.

you have to understand your life story. If you don't, you give up to nihilism.

We mistakingly believe all the thoughts in our own head. They are not always based in reason, or are even the likely reality.

If getting things made you happy, we would be immensely more happy than cavemen were. There is more unhappiness as time goes on in modern society.

happiness is living in the now and appreciating it for what it is, appreciating reality

combined with your potential for the future and the benefits for your future self

and all those future nows that you will loose if you don't live up to that potential

your potential to be your best self

lost potential is the biggest destroyer of happiness

all of those future selfs that are not as good off

all of those lost happy moments

sacrificed to that lost potential

all because not living in reality and making the best of it at each moment

rejoice in your health, relationships, and freedom of choice now

the budhists have it wrong, you don't give up all desire to have happiness

because they desire happiness also, enlightenment, it is a contradiction

you can't give up all striving for happiness, then you are just an animal, no longer human

there is no external solution or goal that will bring happiness, there will always be the next goal

happiness that is long term and sustainable

if you have your health and then you loose it, but then gain it back, you are happy

why were you not happy the first time when you had it

if your spouse is kidnapped, but then returned safely, you have immense joy and happiness

you go to work each day, why do you not have this joy when you return each day

same with children when they go to school

what if thrown in jail unjustly, but then get out

why not enjoying health, relationships, and freedom now

when on your death bed, wouldn't you give anything to come back to now, why not enjoy the now now

Some identify with the mind so strongly that they don't realize their mind is going nonstop and controlling their every action.

Some are self aware enough that they realize their mind is racing, but they can't get control.

Some can control it.

If you are aware but have the thought that you can't control it, that is your mind playing a trick to prevent you from getting control. Don't listen to it, you can control it.

Switch attention to something else to weaken minds control. Feel the energy in your hand. Just relax and attempt to feel the reality of the hand. Then try to sense your whole body. Take conscious assessment of it. Feel for any tenseness.

The mind wants to drag your thoughts to past or futures. Thinking about the body anchors you to the present.

People can very easily talk themselves into and out of things. That is how you give yourself problems. The voice in your head keeps repeating things endlessly.

Self is persona, that is where person comes from.

Everyone has a shadow side, we are worse than we believe, we have to be.

Shadow is always repressed. Because we hold it in, it builds up pressure to come out. We begin to see it in others, projection, before we see it in ourselves. We try to fight it in others because we know it is wrong. So we don't see it, but it influences our behavior. So becoming aware of it and integrating it, it looses it's power over our actions.

You cannot identify with self. If you feel your self to be the problem that you are trying to rid yourself of, you can't get better. Leads to suicide.

Your identity is not your true self. Your true self is the observer of the self. Your true self can change because he learns from the self's thoughts and actions.

Your true self is the current self plus all the potential itterated into the future by all future selfs.

Living in the shell of self seems protective because it has worked in the past.

everyone makes assumptions about the world around them without actually knowing the complete truth, everyone believes something, these beliefs are part of you, you count on these beliefs to get you through the unknown, the belief in the unknown is worship, so everyone worships something

if you worship external gratification or money or power, you can't get enough

if you worship your intelligence, it will fail you

if you worship another, they will fail you

real freedom is freedom from worship

freedom to exercise your consciousness and choice, freedom to be aware in the now, freedom to exercise your virtues like discipline, freedom to achieve your potential

the rat race of the everyday is an unconsciousness existence by choice, choose differently

WE CANNOT KNOW ALL OF REALITY

We will always have beliefs that cannot be proven absolutely. There are infinite things that are true, but cannot be proven to be true. So again we are still at the edge of infinity.

Our reality map can never be complete. We will never be god.

With these 2 proofs, we are able to say we will never know everything. You can have a complete reality map, but it will always have holes within it, and it will always have edges at the unknown unknowns.

CHAOS AND ORDER

Reality isn't all on our reality map. There is on the map, or not. The known and the unknown.

Order is the known. Anything on our reality map. Things we have identified. We think that we know the relationships to other things on our maps. The interactions of cause and effect that they have with other things on our map are known. There is a structure to these relationships on our map, and we understand them. We know what to do to get the outcome that we want. We understand the rules of behavior. Order is structure.

Chaos is the unknown. Anything not on our map. We either haven't identified it as even being there, or we don't understand it enough to be on the map. There is no reality map corresponding to the reality. There is no structure, or we don't understand the structure. We don't understand the relationships of cause and effect. We don't know what to do to get the outcome that we want. There are no rules for behavior.

If we don't even know it exists, or even could exist, it is a blind spot for us. It is an unknown unknown.

We can have indications that something is there, from effects that it has on other things in our map. That is a known unknown.

For the unknown, there is potentially known and unknowable. Something we may eventually know, or not.

TRUTH

Truth is when what is on our reality map that actually corresponds to reality. The map and reality are equal. The symbol is an actual representation of reality for all practical purposes. For instance, when counting, the number three can actually represent how many there actually are. That is a truth, or said to be true.

For the known, there is what is really true and what we think is true. We can think something is true, because it works in all the relationships that we know. We think that we understand it enough so that we can use it as structure to base our actions on. For example, we can use and depend on the concept of gravity even though we don't totally understand it. We can use it to build other structures on. We use it to figure out motions of the planets.

Absolute truth is an idea that is an abstract thought. It exists in principle, but not in our brain.

POSSIBILITIES AND PROBABILITIES

Something that could be true is a possibility. If it can't be true it is impossible.

There is a likelihood that something is true or not. Likelihood is probability. How probable is it to be true or not. Probability of truth determines probability of us getting the outcome we desire if we base our actions on it being true.

There is a gradient from true through possible and to impossible. There are levels of what we think to be truths. Levels of how likely it is true. From truth at 100%, down through the probabilities, to the impossible at 0%.

Things that we think to be true can be true, or can be potentially be later proven to be false.

If we base our structure on something that we think is true, and it turns out not to be, that portion of the structure collapses. That part of the reality map collapses. That portion resorts back to chaos.

We can operate on something only as long as it works. When it no longer works it is of no use to us. If we use it after it is proven wrong, it can lead us down a wrong path. We can build structure on it that will eventually collapse.

There is cost to build structure on something that will eventually collapse. If the cost is not too much, we can use it as a temporary structure. We have to understand that it is temporary, and understand what the costs will be. If the costs will be too high, we don't want to build much structure around it. We have to estimate how likely it is to be true, and what the costs will be if it isn't.

BELIEFS

because we can't know everything and put everything on our map, our map is incomplete in comparison to reality.

there are gaps in the map. Pieces of known surrounded by unknown.

The map is by definition partially wrong because of it's incompleteness.

It will always be incomplete. Forever. So we exist on the border of order and chaos, forever.

Most thoughts are beliefs.

You have a thought about what you want to do, you believe if you do something, then something else will happen that you desire.

You don't believe because it is true, you believe because it is unproven. Has not been proven wrong, yet.

we are always missing a who, what, why, how, where, or when.

We have to operate in reality based on our reality map. If there is an unknown, we may still have to do something. We fill in the gaps of the unknown with what we think is likely to be. We come up with the best explanation for the cause and effects that we can think of. Then we base our choice of what to do on that. Based on our explanation, if we do something, then we have an expected outcome.

It is a bridge to the future that we can take. These gap fillers, or bridges, between the knowns are beliefs. Belief is what we think is true on our reality map. Reasons that we give ourselves to complete an understanding.

Beliefs become structures of the brain that we use to build the structures of our life on. They determine our actions whenever there are unknowns.

Structures in our reality map are built upon other structures in the map. We keep adding relationships and interconnections. We can build other structures on beliefs.

Beliefs may be true or not. We may think that we know, but can't prove they are true. We may feel the probability is high that it is true, but can't be 100% sure.

The future that we get to determines if it was a good choice or not. If the belief worked or didn't. The more the belief works, the more likely it seems to be true.

The more of our map based on belief, the more wrong it could be.

If our beliefs are supported by reason and evidence, we consider them to be true.

Some beliefs hurt us. Some help short term, but still hurt us. Some help us over all time.

It doesn't matter if the belief is true or not, what is important is that it benefits you long term. The long term success of a belief is just supporting evidence that it is true.

The further down the cause and effect chain, and the further in time, the greater the chance for multiplying errors, and their significance.

YOU ACT ON YOUR BELIEFS

People will believe what they want to believe. What benefits them to act on.

YOUR BRAIN FORMS YOUR BELIEFS, SO YOU CAN CHOOSE YOUR BELIEFS

BELIEFS AND IDENTITY

If you have good character, it is ingrained, your automatic behavior is good.

self is that identity that you created with all past choices and all the choices that you could have made. All your branching paths up to the current moment. Your reality map as it concerns you. The reality map of you. The memory of all choices and potential choices that you could have made.

you have the choice to take on the identity that you want

some try to force an identity onto you

if born an american, you are given the identity of an american and you are expected to behave as one

if born into a religious family, same

these are all expectations of others on who you should be

my proposal is to be better than all of them, take the best of each identity and improve on it

if you take on an identity chosen by another and repeatedly act that way, then that becomes you and the more you do it the harder it is to change,

you are born into a family, place, circumstances

the people around you are not usually, consciously, not purposefully trying to take advantage of you

those around you just don't know any better, it was what they were born into

but ultimately, especially with political or religious systems, they are all trying to get something from you, control and resources and propogation of their beliefs into the future

the more you are living an identity given to you by others, not choosen by you, the more you are separate from reality, the less likely to reach your true potential, the less virtuous you can be, the less love that you will deserve, the less love that you get, the less happy you will be

everyone knows that all other gods are not true gods, but they won't believe that about their own

everyone knows that others political groups are corrupt and bad, but won't believe it about their own

everyone always has an emotional response when their identity is attacked

because the mind says that that identity equals you, so you are under threat

You think you are your beliefs. Your beliefs are part of your identity.

You cannot be attached to any beliefs, and all could be beliefs.

Just keep seeking truth.

The mind creates a narrative based on your beliefs. There are built in biases because it is beliefs, not truths. All stories have built in bias.

We make a commitment to our beliefs because we base our identity on it.

BELIEFS ARE FILTERS WE SEE THE WORLD THROUGH

Peoples minds are so different because they are living in a different reality.

Because we can't see the mind of another, we assume we are the same. Only when you see you act differently, do you see the differences. They act different, so we see what we determine to be flaws in them.

We are enough similar that we can operate together most of the time. We play by the same rules most of the time. We need to evolve to all play by the same rules.

It is part of maturing to see that others are different and make different choices. From learning mother is separate from us, to more developed reality map with all different individuals on it.

We learn that we cannot control others, but still want to. Then we learn that we don't want to be controlled. It is maturing to realize that we don't want to because it causes trouble.

CHANGING BELIEFS AND GROWTH

Realizing that you have beliefs is first step in being able to change them.

Belief prevents change.

Up dating beliefs is change.

Improvement of beliefs is growth. Mostly reducing bad beliefs by replacing with better. Or creating new beliefs where there was only chaos. Limiting fixed beliefs. Testing your beliefs to increase probability that they are right.

The reason you do, or don't do, anything is beliefs.

Beliefs change over time, that is how and why we change.

We are always one step away from falsifying something we believe, creating a new belief, a better explanation. This new explanation will still be either incomplete or wrong.

Children are born agnostic. Not knowing what to believe. They are trained to be different. Beliefs are trained into you by experience, parents, siblings, friends, and society. But especially social media.

most people "catch their world view like they catch colds", thoughtlessly.

Freedom is always freedom to choose your beliefs. You are free to choose and your choices matter because they determine who you are.

When you mature you learn that your ideas are not you. They are just things that you can toss back and forth like a ball and both learn from them and the others perspective on them.

if you don't test your boundaries, your world gets smaller and smaller

most of your lifes actions are based on the momentum that you already have, you keep doing the same things and keep moving in the same direction, same choices, same behaviors, ground hog day

BELIEFS CAN BECOME IDEOLOGIES

People with strong ideologies will not accept facts. If someone gives them a fact, they see it as a strength of their belief to not submit to the fact.

PROBLEMS WITH BELIEFS

The mind uses your emotions to control you. Preventing you from creation.

You are controlled by your mind, so you assume you are. This is projection.

They are controlled by the same you are, fears of self.

Projection gives a sense of fairness, your reality map makes them same as you.

You can't read their mind, but make assumptions based on how yours works.

Your mind knows all of your weaknesses. It knows how to manipulate you. That is rationalization.

Your subconscious mind remembers everything. Every failure, rejection, punishment, loss, every bad experience. You don't want to take chances because of fear of these past experiences. The failures become your pattern. You don't put in the effort needed to overcome the pattern. You feel that if you surpass your parents expectations that they won't love you because you are no longer that person that they may have loved.

If you believe you are ugly or dumb, you focus on supporting evidence for it, and don't see the opposite.

You create ideas in your mind. The subconscious is not sophisticated enough to know if the idea was about you or another very well. Don't gossip and complain about others, the subconscious relates the bad thing to you and your self.

Self doubt is needed so we are not over confident. You have to know that you could be wrong, so that you can change.

If you don't struggle with beliefs, then they, and you, are not very deep.

it takes integrity and confidence and self awareness to put off others trying to force identities onto you, or trying to force their will on you in any way

it takes this integrity and virtuousness to be able to realize that there is no external meaning to life, only internal meaning that you create yourself by being who you decide you are capable of being

DIFFERING BELIEFS cause all conflict

Speech is communication of ideas, so mostly communication of beliefs.

You try to convince others of your beliefs.

Brains function is compare and contrast, so when you hear others speak, you listen for differences. These will be difference in belief.

By definition, any belief could be true, and any false. So all have to be acceptable, because we don't know for sure. So, yours don't have to agree with mine. You can have yours, and I can have mine.

People are mostly the same. They differ at beliefs. Differ at flaws.

We have same basic needs. Differ in how to get them, or differ in what is most important.

We all have the same goals. To live, and to better our lives. We just go about it differently because of different beliefs.

If given the same conditions, and if we all knew the reality, we all would act the same.

Sometimes you choose your beliefs consciously, but most are unconscious.

Almost everything we think we know is second hand and based in beliefs. Even direct experience is based around our beliefs.

Forcing someone to act against their beliefs is controlling them. People don't like to be controlled. They resist.

Anything that 2 don't agree on is beliefs.

If someone says they know the truth and you don't, or they are the source of truth, they want to control you.

MEMORY AND BELIEF

We piece together our memory gaps with our beliefs. Just like we piece together our world view with beliefs.

Memories can be rewritten, or we can be programmed by changing our beliefs.

Same areas of brain are used for memories and for future. You are creating an idea in your mind in both.

FEARS AND DESIRES ARE MOTIVATION

Belief plus stress causes action.

If there is no stress, there is no action. This is problem with buddhism. They would never have gotten anywhere.

The happier you are, the more at peace and content, less drive to change things, ego is at peace and not driving you, so monkey brain is quiet.

Unhappy people have monkey that won't shut up. Very innefficient use of brain. Sleep is worse. Get angry more. Make bad decisions that make situations worse.

You have to balance the two.

Desire is a contract your self makes. You decide to be unhappy until you get what you want. The self is a spoiled child. After you get what ever it was that you desired, you go back to the state you were before the desire. It doesn't increase your happiness, you just return to the state you were.

REDUCING BELIEFS

Scientific method

There is no complete truth, no settled science, not even math is settled beyond some basics.

You choose on belief. You act on belief. You change reality on belief. Time decides.

We live on the cliffs of order, overlooking the oceans of chaos.

On a foundation built by those before us, in a house built by those around us, on a shaky deck that we built ourselves, on a cracked ladder held loosely by our significant others.

Oblivious to the termites, winds and waves created by others, the wars that rage around us, the hurricanes of reality just out of sight.
